We are really pleased to announce the launch of our new library system called Accessit.
This now means that you can log in and reserve a book (or 3!) and get them delivered to your tutor group. You will receive instructions at school on how to do this.

Our Library comprises 3 main areas:
The Library is a central hub in the school and you will also find the Students Council suggestion box and the Resilience Celebration box.
Each day in term-time:
8:15 – 8:30am
(Closed Monday mornings)
Each Wednesday 3:15-4:00pm (See Ms Davies to book a place - by the end of lunchtime on Tuesday at the latest.)
Each Monday, Wednesday & Friday lunchtime from 12:30 to 1:00 we are very lucky to have two of our teaching assistants come and support students doing their homework.
Class/ group use:
The Library is booked out for whole class sessions and is regularly used for small group activities. It’s a great space within the school and is used for various events throughout the year and is also an oasis for students who need some time out to be quiet.
Students can borrow up to 3 books at a time for 3 weeks at a time (renewals are possible). We are currently trialling plastic-free borrowing, so students simply need to give their name to Ms Davies and she will issue the books.
Each tutor group also brings students to the Library to choose a library book that stays in school for them to read during silent reading in registration.
Choosing books for the library
Our first priority is to engage with students about what their interests are and what books they enjoy reading. We want our students to discover and develop a love of reading that will help them in their academic progress and their personal lives.
Ms Davies keeps a ‘Student recommendation’ book to note down requests for when we next purchase books.
We subscribe to services with Creative Learning Services (formerly Library Services for Education) and are able to borrow books from their vast library as well as benefit from their expertise via network meetings held each term.
We have a number of students who love the Library and spend a lot of their free time here. They also like to get involved and are very supportive in making book suggestions, re-shelving books and helping out wherever they can.
We are looking to expand this aspect of the Library with a formal team of student librarians who want to support the school community and also gain valuable work experience. Watch this space!
If you have any questions or suggestions, Ms Davies would love to hear from you, please get in touch via our main reception.
