Dear Families,
We are really excited to meet your child at our induction days on 5th and 6th July. Due to the Industrial Action we will only be open to year 6 and this will be a real opportunity for us to get to know your son or daughter, build relationships as a form, familiarise our new students with the school, and immerse ourselves in all things Ibstock. It will be a really exciting and fun day for our new students.
The rest of the school will be in on Thursday 6th, and this will be an opportunity for our new students to experience a normal school day. Looking forward to meeting you all.
With kind regards,
Ibstock Community College.

Year 6 Transition
Dear Parent / Guardian,
I am delighted that your child will be joining us next academic year. We are proud of the quality of education and care that we provide and are confident that your child will progress well while attending Ibstock Community College.
Since the half term break Miss Clements, progress leader visited several primary schools to meet the children and talk to them about life at Ibstock Community College.
As part of the induction process we have two very important events coming up:
· our induction days - Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July 2023
· our new parent welcome evening -Thursday 6 July 5- 7pm
Induction days for year six children – Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July 2023
Year six children will attend Ibstock Community College to experience life at the college. They will spend time with their tutor, experience our high-quality teaching and learning and meet the students who will be in their tutor group.
Arrival times and departure times
Children should be dropped off at college at 8:45 on Wednesday 5 July and make their way to the main hall. Staff and students will be available at the main gates and reception to act as guides. School finishes for Year 6 students at 2:40pm when they will need collecting. The same times will apply on Thursday 6 July.
What equipment do they need to bring with them?
Students will need to bring a pen, pencil and ruler with them. They may have a PE taster session, but do not need to bring a PE kit.
Students will also need to bring a bottle of water with them.
Buses
Permanent bus passes will be issued to eligible students during the summer holiday in readiness for the start of the academic year on Tuesday 29 August 2023.

For the two induction days, students should wear their primary school uniform. Our uniform policy can be viewed on our website https://www.ibstockcollege.co.uk/policies/uniform

Liss Sports will be in college on Thursday 6 July 2023 from 5-7pm. During this time students will be able to try on uniform.
If you feel you are entitled to financial support to purchase uniform as a low income family then please contact the college as soon as possible so we may discuss this further.
ParentPay (A Letter with your username and password will be sent out via post before the start of term)
ParentPay is our college’s online cashless payment system that lets you make secure online payments by credit and debit card. You can also pay in cash at local PayPoint stores. It is used to make cashless payments in schools for dinner money and activities like trips etc.
This online payment system gives you a more convenient and flexible way to make payments to Ibstock Community College and helps to keep your child safe. By making cashless payments you know that your money has reached the school safely.
You can view your account statement and payment history, check when payments need to be made and set alerts to tell you when your account needs topping up. Your child can also check their balance at any time by using the machine in the hall foyer. You can also see a report online which tells you which meal your child chooses at lunchtime.
School meals
All year six students will receive a free school lunch on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July. This will give them the opportunity to sample the food we have on offer - our school meals are always very popular, with a large number of our current students choosing to have a school meal.
Lunchtime will be at 1:20pm. Please send your child with a healthy snack they can eat at breaktime (11am – 11:20am).
On Wednesday, students will have their thumb scanned. Students will not be allowed to purchase food if there are not enough funds in their account in the new academic year.
If your child does not currently receive free school meals, but you feel you may be entitled, you can download an application form from Leicestershire County Council www.leicestershire.gov.uk or telephone 0116 3057093. We strongly encourage you to do this, as the school will receive significant additional funding to support your child’s education.
Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP)
If your child has a health condition and / or requires medication you will need to complete an IHCP detailing this. An IHCP is a written, recorded plan on the specific information and requirements of an individual student and ensures that the student’s needs are met in the educational setting.
Please give the completed IHCP to reception, along with their medication. Further details and the IHCP form can be found in the policies section of our website https://www.ibstockcollege.co.uk/content/policy-docs.php
